A spoonful of sugar can make the medicine go down. But high sugar intake can land us in health trouble if we are not careful. It can lead to excessive weight gain that will increase the risk of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and cancer (1). Obesity is already costing the UK taxpayers £5 billion a year. Last weekend, the Observer newspaper had called for the politicians to stand up to the sugar lobby (2).
We hope this infographic will help shed more light on the hidden sugar issues in our daily diet. It’s quite an eye-opener to GLUE, because we love our sweets. We pledge to drink more water and herbal tea now.
