The Rollapaluza National Series at Hoxton Square in London last night was a fun-filled urban sufferfest. Anyone could enter – men, women, amateur or professional riders. One of the contestants was 12-year old girl. The key was to have a serious fun on the rollers.

GLUE sent our writer, Salina Christmas, to do a live Twitter reporting of the event as @SmellsLikeGlue. She couldn’t participate due to her bad back, but one of her iPhone photos won the Exclusive Rollapaluza Keirin T-shirts. Hurrah!

Salina is also a photographer and one of panel judges of the coming KL International Photoawards 2013. So, it is no surprise that she is a bit of an old hand at iPhoneography.
Rollapaluza is a unique cycle sport. Two participants would battle out on a pair of custom-built rollers connected to a huge dial, with split-second-digital timing over a simulated 500m distance at speeds in excess of 50mph, accompanied by music, MC and cheering crowds.
The series start from 19th February until 19th March, with the Grand Finale in London on 13th April 2013. Read the results here.
Thanks, Rollapaluza. Cycling is indeed rock n’ roll.
